OLA Super Conference
Whitehots Inc. is pleased to announce their participation in the 2010 Ontario Library Association Super Conference seminar titled “Implementing Online Selection: the Library and Vendor Experience.”
Online selection and allocation is a growing technology that is helping to pave the way to more efficient processes for libraries in their collection development. This seminar offers an opportunity to learn about different systems and the features libraries should look for when selecting a vendor.
In addition to discovering the unique aspects of different online selection and allocation systems, the session will also allow participants to:
• Gain insight about the library experience of integrating acquisition software into existing processes, including training procedures.
• Discover the unique benefits of online collection-building resources.
• Find out about the impact on selection and acquisition workflow and workload.
• Learn about problems encountered and solutions found to refine online selection functionality.
Edmund Salt, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Whitehots, will share his experiences about working in cooperation with the Toronto Public Library to develop the Whitehots system. TPL began implementing online selection in 2007 and is now working with three vendors for purchasing print, audiovisual and some multilingual materials.
The session is recommended for all library staff members who are actively participating in selection and acquisitions. Vendors will also find valuable information in this seminar.
The Ontario Library Association Super Conference is an opportunity for library professionals to meet and share ideas and discover industry innovations to build the library community.
